Amanda Cleveland-Davey M.F.A.
Costume Designer & Technician
About Me
A recent gradute from the California University of Long Beach, I am a costumer who loves every aspect of the artform from start to finish, in all it's varieties. Whether it be designing or draping; theatre, film, or video games, costuming is a wonderful, passion-filled field that I'm proud to be a part of. I'm always thirsty for more knowledge and experience and I love hands-on projects, the more challenging the better. I am particularly interested in work that utilizes nontraditional materials and processes, and I am always eager to take on ambitious projects. I work well under pressure and always strive to be a strong and supportive member of the collaboration. Additionally I love teaching environments, and have found some of my most satisfying work to have been while in service to the educaional pursuits of others.
Skills & Services
I find it fascinating to have the ability to communicate a whole story, a whole life about a character in one look. As a designer I tend to enjoy bold statements in my textures and line.
While the base of my education has been in theatrical costume design, I have never been able to resist the allure of working hard to create some with my own two hands.
I appreciate experimentation and a good challenge, these are a few projects I've engaged in to expand my skills. Currently, I have taken a special interest in leather armor and shibori dyeing.
